Beaded Saree Tassel making

Hi friends,
Sarees are an integral part of traditional Indian outfits. Whether it is a silk saree or a fancy saree when it is worn it adds to a woman's beauty. To make sarees look even more beautiful tassels are added to their pallu. Now there is a wide range of designs and veriety available in tassels. Today I am going to share one such design for making saree tassels.

The required materials are
  • Silk thread (10 strands for first step and 50 strands for for second step)
  • Golden coloured zari thread
  • Round beads
  • Angular beads
  • Needles(small and large)
  • Scissor

Take ten strawnds of the silk thread. Now thread these strands in the small needle. Pass the needle through the fabric and add a round bead.

Pull the strands through the bead.

Now cut the strands off. Make sure the strands are long enough to tie knots.

Tie the knot as shown below. To make sure that the knot is tight and exactly below the round bead use a needle as shown in the picture to position the knot.

Next step is to pass an angular bead through the strands.

Again put a knot below the bead.

Thread fifty strands of silk thread through the larger
Needle. Now pass this needle through the strands between the angular bead and the knot below it.

Once you have the length of strands adjusted according to length required for tassel cut off the extra thread.

Now tie the strands using zari thread.

You can see how adding tassels makes a saree look beautiful.

Decorated silk thread bangles

Hello friends,
In my last post I showed you how to decorate silk thread bangles. Today I am going to share with you a few pictures of Silk thread bangles that I have created. I have used stone chain, ball chain, stone sheet to decorate them. The required materials are basically same but the design is different.

In the above picture you can see that I have used a stone sheet with two lines of stones to decorate the larger bangles. All I have done here is to take the appropriate length of sheet and stick  it on the bangle at equal distance. On both the sides  of the sheet  medium sized ball chain is glued to complete the look. In between I have mixed cream and brown coloured metal bangles which make the silk thread bangles pop out. At both the ends I have placed the single stone line silk thread bangles that I showed in my last post.

In this set I have taken plain metal bangles and added a simple silk thread bangle at each end. Even though it is simple it looks very elegant.

This is another set of bangles that I prepared with mango shaped design at the centre. To get the proper shape you have to cut the stone chain  and ball chain in smaller pieces and then place it on the glue applied on the bangle in the mango shape. The other green bangles on either side have smaller pieces of stone chain glued on them and golden coloured silk thread wrapped around the chain.

Even if you wear only a portion of the bangle set it still looks very elegant and beautiful.

You can use these designs as reference and make your own silk thread bangle set to match your sarees. If you have any queries please leave a comment. If you like my posts please subscribe.

Decorating a silk thread bangle

Hello friends,
My last post was about making a simple silk thread bangle. Today I am going to show you how to decorate a silk thread wrapped bangle with stones, beads and other embellishments.

The materials that are required for decorating a silk thread bangle are

  • Silk thread wrapped bangle
  • Stone chain
  • Ball chain
  • Glue
  • Scissor

Apply a line of glue at the centre of silk thread bangle as shown below.

Then place the stone chain on the glue applied around the bangle and cut off the extra chain with scissor. Gently press the stone chain so that it sticks to the bangle's surface properly.

Now apply glue on the right side of the stone chain around the bangle and place the ball chain on it.

Next apply glue on the other side of stone chain and place the ball chain on it in similar manner. Make sure that the stone chain and ball chains are aligned properly. Let it dry for 24 hours.

Now the decorated silk thread bangle is ready.

These bangles can be mixed with other silk thread bangles or normal bangles because the bangle's base is golden in colour.

I hope you all liked this post.
